I can't remember exactly what led to the desire to visit Mid King Biv, beyond perhaps its reputation as a comparatively remote and low-use hut. It's one of the 2 bunk bivs in the Tararua Ranges, sitting at the bushline on the true right of the Waingawa and positioned under a cluster of 1500m peaks known as The Three Kings.
